Bakhtar Bank: For Your Future Hope
Bakhtar Bank is a wholly owned subsidiary of Azizi Bank; the second largest bank in Afghanistan in terms of assets and client base.
Azizi Bank acquired the Development Bank of Afghanistan from Da Afghanistan Bank (Central Bank of Afghanistan) and renamed it to Bakhtar Bank on 8 March 2009. This acquisition was a first of its kind in Afghanistan. It not only protected the clientele of the bank, but also the staff of DBA. Azizi Bank (parent bank) committed 100% payment to all depositors and initially injected USD $10 million capital.
Bakhtar Bank started operations on 21 June 2009. The inauguration was attended by top government officials, members of the Parliament, other bank heads, local and international businessmen.
Bakhtar Bank currently has a network of 16 branches, with 20 more branches opening soon throughout Afghanistan by mid 2011.
The market base of Bakhtar Bank is individual depositors as well as NGOs (non-government organizations) along with government payroll accounts.
